About 150 students and staff from the Bamberg Job Corps Center marched for peace and to end bullying and youth violence as part of their Youth 2 Youth: Partners 4 Peace student initiative. Students designed matching T-shirts that read, “Keep Calm and Join Youth 2 Youth Bamberg Job Corps Center” and “Stop the bullying … Stand up … Speak out” to make their message clear to the public.
“I’m participating to support awareness of violence. It will inspire other youth to see our youth walking and will encourage them to fight against youth violence,” said Kiesha Alves, the center’s administrative director.
The center invited Bamberg County Sheriff Ed Darnell, Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell, and Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott to speak at the Y2Y opening and closing ceremonies.
